Student Achievement Testing

The Student Achievement Testing Day is the state-wide testing initiative produced by the Michigan Music Teachers Association. It is held once a year in March. This test is standardized throughout the state and tests each student on performance, theory, technique, aural skills, and sight-reading.

Sonata/Sonatina Competition

Categories:
Sonatinas Up Through 5th Grade
Sonatinas 6th-8th Grade
Sonatas Up through 8th Grade
Sonatas 9th-10th Grade
Sonatas 11th-12th Grade

**Students participating in the Sonatina Division up through 5th Grade may play one memorized piece or single movement from the Classical period, such as German Dances, Minuets and Sonatinas. Students in all other divisions will perform one memorized movement of a Sonatina or Sonata from the Classical Period.

1. Open to CAMTA teachers and students who live in the Greater Lansing Area.
2. Entered students must study with their current CAMTA teacher for at least 6 months.
3. Photocopies will not be allowed unless the music is out of print (written verification
    from the publisher is required). Copies that are digital downloads with a purchase
    receipt and copies with the CD Sheet Music logo are also acceptable.
4. The Winners Concert will be combined with the SAT Honors Concert in March.
5. No requests for performance times will be honored. No refunds will be given.

Princeton International Piano Competition 2022

Young artists from around the world have the opportunity to demonstrate their extraordinary talent and musicianship through our virtual piano competition! The Princeton Festival piano competition is in its sixteenth year. Last season 245 pianists participated from 25 states and 32 countries. Find out more about the competition, its rules, and how to apply by clicking on the menu boxes below. We are accepting applications now through April 20, 2022.

The Princeton Festival Piano Competition will award the following prizes to the winners of their respective categories:

Elementary Artists (ages 6-9): $100 and Certificate

Intermediate Artists (ages 10-12): $150 and Certificate

Junior Artists (ages 13-15): $200 and Certificate

Qualifications

  1. The Princeton Festival Piano Competition is open to artists of any nationality, state, or country of residence.

  2. The registration fee for the competition is $50 except for the Open Classes, where the registration fee is $75. The registration fee is non-refundable, even if the competitor withdraws from the competition.

  3. There is no pre-screening round. Artists who apply by April 20, 2022 and pay the requisite registration fee(s) will qualify for the competition’s preliminary round.

  4. Artists may enter more than one category according to their respective age on June 1, 2022. Proof of age is required with the application.

  5. Artists who are students or relatives of the adjudicators or a Princeton Festival/Princeton Symphony official may not enter the competition.

Senior Artists (ages 16-18): $500 and Certificate

Piano Four-Hands (age 25 and under): $200 per person and Certificates

Emerging Open Class (age 25 and under): $1,000 and Certificate

Experienced Open Class (age 26 and up): $1,000 and Certificate
